Warrenton police arrested a man last week for allegedly strangling and punching a woman.
Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on Golden Vicary Drive at 6:25 p.m. Jan. 15, according to an arrest report. Warrenton resident Zachary Dunn, 22, was arrested at the scene and later charged with third-degree domestic assault, court records state.
Police allege Dunn choked a woman during an argument outside the home. Officers reported the woman had red marks on her neck and had difficulty speaking. The woman was transported to a hospital for evaluation, police said.
Dunn allegedly admitted to police that he choked the woman, and also said he accidentally punched her in the stomach while attempting to pull her toward himself.
Dunn was taken to the Warren County Jail. A confinement hearing was scheduled for Jan. 19.
