Jonesburg State Bank was honored as an MBA Century Bank by the Missouri Bankers Association on Thursday, July 15, during MBA’s 131st annual convention at the Chateau On The Lake Resort.
Chartered in 1921, Jonesburg State Bank is among more than 170 Missouri banks that have reached or surpassed the 100-year milestone.
“Jonesburg State Bank has been serving the citizens of the state for decades and to be recognized as an MBA Century Bank is just one indication of how vital its work is to the development and growth of our communities,” said Max Cook, MBA president and CEO.
Jonesburg State Bank is a family-owned independent community financial institution with locations in Jonesburg, Montgomery City and Warrenton. The bank was started when 58 local citizens subscribed to the initial stock offering of $10,000. Although there were three banks in existence in Jonesburg prior to the depression, Jonesburg State Bank is the only one to survive that difficult time. The bank currently has assets of over $130 million dollars.
“It is an honor to be part of a community bank that has so much history in this area we serve,” said Dan Robb, Jonesburg State Bank president and CEO. “Things may have changed considerably since 1921, but I can assure you that our customers are still our most valuable asset and we would not have been here for 100 years without a wonderful growing customer base. We look forward to many more years of serving this great area.”
The Missouri Bankers Association, founded in 1891, is a statewide trade and professional organization in Jefferson City that represents the interests of more than 240 banks and savings and loans in Missouri. MBA serves as the principal advocate for the Missouri banking community and provides educational opportunities, products and services that assist bankers with enhancing their banking operations.
