The next few days at Wright City High School will be packed with exciting activities to celebrate the final days of Homecoming Week.
The school district on Thursday, Sept. 18, will host the homecoming parade, with the parade lineup beginning at 12:15 p.m., and will feature a district-wide circus-style theme of “The Greatest Show.” After the parade, high school students return to school to take part in a kickball tournament.
West Elementary Principal Sara Meadows said that the parade offers each student in the district a chance to learn about the Wright City school community and to grow their Wildcat pride.
"The Homecoming parade is a special tradition that connects our community with our youngest Wildcats,” Meadows said. “It gives elementary students the chance to cheer alongside neighbors, families, and older classmates while seeing all the opportunities that await them in their future years. From school activities to community pride, this celebration helps students look forward with excitement to the many ways they can be involved as they grow as Wildcats."
Wright City (2-1) will welcome visiting Louisiana (1-2) for the Homecoming football game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. With a victory, the Wildcats will look to extend the team’s winning streak to three games.
On Friday, the Homecoming dance will take place in the high school gym. The dance will run from 7-10 p.m.
Saturday is an exciting day for friends and fans of the Wildcats Marching Band as the high school will play host to the Wright City Marching Band Festival. The event is planned to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bands scheduled to compete include Highland, Elsberry, Troy, South Callaway, Windsor, Bowling Green, Southern Boone, Hermann, Louisiana, Montgomery County, New Bloomfield, Orchard Farm, Francis Howell North and host Wright City.
