Food pantry launching drive-thru distribution

Posted

Wright City Community Food Pantry, in partnership with the Wright City Lions Club and the St. Louis Area Food Bank, is launching a new series of food distribution days beginning on Sept. 27.

From around 10-11 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, pantry volunteers will be at the Lions Club offering free food in a drive thru-style distribution, said food pantry Director Joe Purl.

“We’ll be serving twice per month, five pallets of food, free distribution,” Purl commented during a recent public gathering. “This is a great investment in stabilizing our families.”

Food will be distributed to families in need on a first come, first served basis. Distribution will continue during the scheduled time frame only as long as supplies last.

Food distributed will include fresh produce, dairy and meat, Purl said. The food pantry is anticipating 80 to 100 families, he added.

The Wright City Lions Club is located at 678 Westwoods Road.

Volunteers will be needed on an ongoing basis to help with the food distributions. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the food pantry through its Facebook page, facebook.com/WCCommunityFoodPantry.

These drive-thru distributions are in addition to the pantry’s normal open hours on Wednesdays and the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Wright City Community Food Pantry is located at 217 East First Street North.
