Warren County Emergency Management Agency is holding a Teen and Adult CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training course, the weekend of April 9-11, 2021 at the Warren County Emergency Management Agency, 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton, MO. The class times that weekend will be Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The course will be facilitated through the Mid America TEEN CERT program, for students 12 years of age and older, including adults. The training consists of 8 units: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical Operations 1 and 2, Search and Rescue Operations, Organization and Incident Command, Disaster Psychology, Special Needs Considerations, and Terrorism. The class culminates with a live simulation exercise to test your newly-learned skills.
Any Scouts taking the course will also have the opportunity to earn 7 merit badges. They are First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety, Safety, Disabilities Awareness, Search and Rescue, and Wilderness Survival. Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls can also earn badge requirements. Members of HOSA (Future Health Professionals, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America) will learn all of the required content to compete in the State and National Community Emergency Response Team Competitive Event (http://www.hosa.org/hosa105/hosa_105_module_4.pdf).
