Dollar General pitches new store in Innsbrook

Posted

Village of Innsbrook officials will be presented with a new development project next month that represents a significant sign of growth in one of Warren County’s smaller communities.

A development firm has proposed construction of a Dollar General store at the northeast corner of Highway F and Highway M, just inside the boundary of the village. The store would be over 10,600 square feet, would be situated on 2.6 acres, and would be accessed from Highway M, east of the intersection, according to a site plan submitted to the village.

To build in the village, the proposed site will have to be rezoned to allow commercial development. Public hearings for the rezoning are scheduled for Nov. 2 before the Innsbrook Planning and Zoning Commission, and on  Nov. 15 before the Innsbrook Board of Trustees. Both hearings will start at 5 p.m. at the Innsbrook Village Hall.

Public comments regarding the rezoning will be accepted at both hearings. Those who wish to submit written comments related to the Dollar General project should do so in advance by emailing admin@villageofinnsbrook.org.

If approved, this would be the first retail store serving the village of Innsbrook outside of the small shops and restaurants within the Innsbrook Resort. The store would be a significant convenience for village residents, who currently have a lengthy drive for many groceries and commodities. The development proposal is a sign of the growing residential presence in the area, where the village of Innsbrook has been steadily expanding in recent years.

The area around the Highway F/Highway M intersection is now the northeastern edge of the village. In addition to the proposed Dollar General, future development in the immediate vicinity of the intersection includes a new Innsbrook Village Hall and a sizable animal shelter planned by Wags & Whiskers.

This would also be the second major Dollar General project in Warren County in a short time span. Just this month, Dollar General opened its newly built “DG Market” store in Wright City.

The Innsbrook Dollar General project is being led by land acquisition and development firm Overland Group LLC.
