Two men from South Gate, California, have been charged with drug trafficking after a highway patrol officer located suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin in their vehicle.

Ulyssis Hernandez, 33, and Gerardo Gutierrez-Membrila, 64, were charged Oct. 15 in Warren County in connection to a traffic stop and arrest that occurred five days prior.

According to court documents submitted by the Missouri Highway Patrol, the two men were stopped in a Nissan Frontier on Veterans Memorial Parkway near Warrenton. The patrol stated that an officer observed the vehicle turning around in a roadside parking lot, and pulled in with them to ask if they were lost or needed assistance.

During the contact, the officer alleged that the two men were stuttering and giving inconsistent details about their travel plans. The officer reportedly asked for and received permission to search the vehicle, then located an alleged 5 pounds of methamphetamine, 1 kilogram of cocaine and 1 ounce of heroin, all concealed within the vehicle’s rear tailgate.

The drugs were seized and the two men were taken to the Warren County Jail.

Each of the suspects now faces two felony drug trafficking charges that could result in lengthy sentences, if they are convicted. Hernandez additionally faces a third felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance.
