Area athletes move on to track sectionals

Warrenton and Wright City track and field athletes will compete in this weekend’s sectional meets with a chance to advance to the state tournament.
Warrenton competed in the Class 4, District 4 track meet last weekend at North Point High School. Warrenton qualified for sectionals in 15 events. Athletes needed to finish in the top-four of their event to qualify for sectionals.
Morgan Marschel placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.60. Marschel teamed up with Madelyn Marschel, Loren Howard and Isabelle Morris to place fourth in the 4x400-meter relay. They finished with a time of 4:30.10. Madelyn Marschel placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.85.
Kylie Overkamp placed third in the 100-meter dash. She finished with a time of 13.29. Overkamp teamed up with Evangeline Rhama, Dana Pruitt and Garneisha Love to place fourth in the 4x100-meter relay. They finished with a time of 53.13.
Two Lady Warriors finished fourth in field events. Love placed fourth in the long jump. She jumped 4.83 meters. Avery Shaw placed fourth in the shotput. She threw the shot 9.83 meters.
Wyatt Claiborne finished second in a pair of races for Warrenton. Claiborne placed second in the 1,600-meter run and 3,200-meter run. Claiborne finished with times of 4:44.14 and 10:56.59. Teammate Phillip Kackley placed third in the 1,600-meter run. He finished with a time of 4:45.33.
The Warriors recorded a fourth place finish in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.32. The relay was run by William Reel, Kolby Meine, Joseph Evans and Zachariah Bristol. Bristol also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash. He finished with a time of 23.76.
The Warriors had athletes qualify for sectionals in five field events. Meine qualified for sectionals in two field events. Meine finished third in the triple jump. He jumped 12.10 meters. He finished fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.62 meters. Colton Brosenne placed fourth in the triple jump. He jumped 11.78 meters. Brosenne also placed fourth in the long jump. He jumped 5.68 meters. Joseph Evans placed third in the high jump. He jumped 1.72 meters.
The Wright City Wildcats registered a pair of first place finishes in the Class 3, District 3 meet Saturday at Wright City High School.
Elizabeth Riggs placed first in the 300-meter hurdle race. She finished with a time of 48.49. The Wildcats placed first in the 4x200-meter relay. Devin Myers, DeMetrice Le Noir, Jacob Smith and Jeremiah Davis won the event with a time of 1:31.17. Myers, Le Noir, Smith and Davis placed second in the 4x100-meter relay. They finished with a time of 44.85. Le Noir, Davis, David Riggs and David Rice placed second in the 4x400-meter relay. They finished with a time of 3:32.44. David Riggs placed fourth in the 800-meter run. He finished the race in 2:04.21.
Zoe Riggs placed third in the 800-meter run and 1,600-meter run. She finished with times of 2:31.06 and 5:24.94. She was part of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished in third place. Lindsay Pettus, Elizabeth Riggs, Zoe Riggs and Lydia Clubb ran the relay in 4:17.01. Teagan Riley, Elizabeth Riggs, Pettus and Clubb finished fourth in the 4x200-meter relay. They finished the race in 1:50.21.
Kaedyn Johnson placed fourth in the pole vault at 2.30 meters.
Wright City is scheduled to compete in Saturday’s Class 3, Sectional 2 meet at Montgomery County High School. Warrenton will compete in the Class 4, Sectional 2 meet at Mexico High School.
