Warren County and St. Charles County officers made a joint arrest last Wednesday of a man accused of breaking into a barn outside Foristell and stealing $1,000-worth of tools.
Gary J. McMullin Sr., 37, of Warrenton, was arrested early in the morning on Aug. 25 for the alleged burglary and stealing. Criminal charges were filed the same day.
According to charging documents, McMullin was identified by a property owner who witnessed McMullin breaking into his pole barn along the 400 block of Highway WW. The property owner confronted McMullin, and told police that he saw his red tool box had been put in McMullin’s vehicle.
Before he was able to leave the area, McMullin was stopped by a St. Charles County police officer. A Warren County deputy also arrived a short time later, according to law enforcement.
The property owner told officers that the door to his barn was damaged and appeared to have been pried open. He reaffirmed that the tools were his when McMullin’s vehicle was searched.
During the search, a deputy also located a container with a substance that allegedly field-tested positive as methamphetamine.
McMullin was charged with second-degree burglary, stealing items worth $750 or more, and felony drug possession. He was taken to the Warren County Jail, booked, and released on his own recognizance the next day, according to court records. His next court hearing is Sept. 15 in Warren County Circuit Court.
