All Missourians eligible for vaccine starting Friday

Posted

Beginning Friday, April 9, all Missouri residents will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccinations.

Gov. Mike Parson announced in March that the state’s vaccine eligibility would expand to all residents at the end of this week to ensure that available doses of the vaccine aren’t going unused.

“With the progress we are currently seeing and vaccine supply expected to increase significantly in the coming weeks, we are well ahead of schedule with our vaccine plan,” Parson said on March 18. “Supply projections are subject to change, but it is critical that we start preparing for this potential influx and ensure there is a consistent number of people who are eligible and interested in receiving a vaccine.”

Phase 2 of Missouri’s vaccine eligibility was activated March 29. That phase includes people employed in important economic sectors such as construction, manufacturing, higher education, food and agriculture. It also included homeless and other populations disproportionately affected by the COVID illness.

The Phase 3 activation on Friday includes the remainder of Missouri’s adult population, expanding eligibility to roughly 1.1 million additional people, according to the governor’s office.

Thus far, Missouri’s data shows over 1.7 million Missourians, 28 percent of the state’s population, have initiated vaccinations statewide. Over 60 percent of Missourians aged 65 or older have initiated vaccinations.

Current data also shows that significantly more women (33 percent) than men (26 percent) have gotten vaccinated in Missouri.

Vaccination locations

The Warren County Health Department is providing weekly vaccination clinics for those who pre-register online at www.warrencountyhealth.com. With all Missourians becoming eligible, appointments are made based on a simple first-come, first-served basis. Any newly eligible people who already pre-registered do not need to register again.

Compass Health and Legacy Drugstores in Warren County are also offering frequent appointments for vaccinations. However, registrations at those locations can only be done when open appointments are still available. Information for how to register is regularly posted on each company’s respective Facebook page.

Mass vaccination event

The Health Department is collaborating on hosting a Missouri national Guard tri-county mass vaccination clinic. Full details about the clinic have not been released, but it is scheduled  for all day May 7, according to the health department.

Health officials are recruiting non-medical volunteers to help with the mass vaccination event. Volunteers will help move supplies to different stations or assist in handling paperwork.

Volunteers willing to work a shift on May 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or 1:30 to 8 p.m., are asked to contact the Warren County Health Department as soon as possible by emailing swhite@warrencountymo.org, or calling 636-456-7474.
