Carolers from Warrenton Christian Church visited Warrenton Manor on Dec. 18 to entertain residents with a variety of Christmas carols.
They opened with 96-year-old Gloria Bell, of Wright City, on her unique kitchen instrument made out of a kazoo, thumb tacks for the buttons, and a plunger on the end. It’s an instrument she’s been playing for a long time, since she was part of a kitchen band in the Lake of the Ozarks. “We went into nursing homes like this and had a ball,” she said. She opened the caroling by leading Warrenton Manor residents with a rendition of “Jingle Bells.”
“I love it. It brings back a lot of memories,” she said. “It makes me feel good.”
After Gloria’s performance, Terry Brown picked up her guitar and led residents in more traditional Christmas songs during the event, which also featured drinks and cookies for the residents.
