70% Tax Credits available for qualifying donations to local nonprofit

Posted

A year ago, the Department of Economic Development announced it had awarded 70% tax credits to Bethel Hills through the Neighborhood Assistance Program. These state tax credits are available to eligible and qualifying donors who are able to effectively redirect their tax dollars in support of an approved NAP project.

Bethel Hills’ project budget of $430,053 allows them to offer $301,037 in 70% tax credits to qualified donations from individuals and businesses. The project allows the organization to pave more than 13,000 square yards of roadways, driveways and sidewalks located at their location in Marthasville.

“In order for this community to be fully accessible, we need paved roads and sidewalks to access homes, the chapel and the gymnasium, and to install ADA doors and handrails,” said Board President Billie Kramme.

Bethel Hills’ mission is to provide supportive housing, social activities and other opportunities for adults with and without disabilities that enable them to live, learn and celebrate community together. Their vision is a welcoming and supportive community where all adults have the opportunity to live life to the fullest.

“Boonslick Regional Planning Commission has been key in the success of achieving these NAP tax credits. Linda Buschman has worked with us throughout the application process and is serving as the project coordinator. We’re grateful for her accessibility and her understanding of our mission,” said Kramme.

“When I first began working with Bethel Hills on their project idea, I was immediately struck by the caring and compassion shown to the residents of the community by the staff, board and volunteers. And, it was evident the need was there to make the property fully accessible for everyone coming on the property. BRPC is pleased to be a part of this project to allow them to meet that need for many years to come,” said Buschman.

The project is well underway, but there is still a need for donations to raise the full $430,053 and complete the project. If you would like to be a part of this project and you are interested in more information, contact Development Director Dennis Kramme at dennisk@bethelhills.org or 636-299-1983. Tax credits are available on a first-come, first-served basis until they are all taken. Potential donors are encouraged to contact their tax advisor to determine how a tax credit may benefit them; both for the year of the gift and for subsequent tax years.

If you are an organization that is interested in learning more about the tax credit program and how they might benefit your project, contact Linda Buschman at lbuschman@boonslick.org or 636-456-3473 ext 118.
