Two drivers killed in separate weekend crashes

Two drivers were killed in separate crashes in Warren County over the Easter weekend. The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that both deaths involved people who weren’t wearing proper safety equipment.

On Saturday, April 3, Troy resident Jacob R. Pietzman, 22, was killed when the pickup truck he was driving overturned off of Bell Road, about 2 miles north of Wright City. The highway patrol said the 2016 Ford F250 failed to negotiate a curve to the right and traveled off the opposite side of the road.

The truck reportedly struck a grass ditch and began to overturn. The highway patrol said Pietzman was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the vehicle by the force of the crash.

The crash happened around 3 a.m., according to the highway patrol. Pietzman was propnounced dead at the scene by Warren County Ambulance personnel.

Motorcycle rider killed

On Sunday, April 4, a St. Charles man riding a motorcycle through Warrenton was killed in a crash on the North Outer Road outside Walmart.

Brian S. House, 33, was taken to a hospital and later died after his 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck a vehicle coming out of the south side of the Walmart parking lot. The crash happened a little before 11 a.m.

The highway patrol alleged that the second vehicle, a 2014 Ford Fusion, failed to yield as it was exiting the parking lot. House was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact, the highway patrol said.

Crash investigators said House was not wearing a safety helmet, but did not disclose whether that contributed to his fatal injuries.

House was flown to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by ARCH helicopter service. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead after 4 p.m.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, Jenna L. Wuelling, 18, of Wright City, did not have any reported injuries.
