To The Editor:

A letter I wrote last week concerning the reasons for the failure of the fire tax proposal for Warrenton has generated some flak. Bad mouthing me and others who voted against it will not change anything. The vote was overwhelmingly against the increase. That should tell the proponents something.

Rather than complain about those of us who voted against it, try to figure out how a meaningful increase might pass. When Roger Owenby, a volunteer firefighter is against the increase with specific reasons, it is time to consider a proposal which might have a chance of passing. I did not like voting against the proposition but could not in good conscience vote for it as presented.
