To The Editor:

I have been a Warren County resident for most of my life, growing up on a farm in northern Warren County and graduating from Warren County R-3 High School. As we have watched our community evolve over the last 20 years, I am extremely excited about the unique opportunity we have to bring a technical training center to Warren County, in cooperation with St. Charles Community College. The training center will help ensure that Warren County will be a top choice for manufacturing companies seeking highly skilled workers, fueling the positive evolution of our community in the future.

As we have all read and heard, in today’s competitive environment, the demand for technical skills is so high that businesses and jobs are following the workers. Unlike in prior eras, where people moved to where the jobs are, today businesses are moving to where the workers are. As a community we have an opportunity to create a pipeline of highly skilled technical workers that will attract future businesses and investments in our community.

The Technical Training Center will provide certificate training programs at an affordable rate to help support the sectors of advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance and controls, agriculture technology and transportation and logistics. These existing, strong industry sectors in our economy will continue to grow if there are sufficient workers.

Vote YES on Prop J! St. Charles Community College has committed that 100 percent of the tax funding raised by Prop J will be invested in Warren County to train and prepare our residents. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity as a community and build a brighter future for all of us in Warren County!
