Strassenbash, Wright City’s largest festival of the year, will be held Sept. 20-21.
This will be the 37th year for the event, which is sponsored by the Wright City Area Chamber of Commerce. It will be the second year the event will be held at the Wright City Lions Club.
The festival opens Friday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. Opening night will feature a variety of entertainment, craft and food vendors. The second annual car show will be from 5-7 p.m. The person of the year will be announced at 6:15 p.m. on the main stage. The Peace Lords will take the stage at 8 p.m.
Bands will perform in the beer garden Friday and Saturday evenings. Blaze Station will perform from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. BYOB will perform from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. Biscuits ’n Gravy will perform from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.
This year the Wright City Fire Protection District personnel will host their annual pancake breakfast in the Lions Club Hall on Saturday from 7-11 a.m.
The parade, which will have a new route this year, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. Lineup starts at 10:30 a.m. at Sunrise Church. It will end at the Lions Club, where the Wright City High School Marching Band can perform and kick off Saturday’s events.
Events for Saturday include Lunch with Elsa & Batman (tickets required), a German dance group, baby contest, bingo, and bicycle giveaway. The winner of the 50/50 raffle will be announced and the Strassenbash ambassador winner will be announced.
The headlining act will be Johnny Rock-itt & the Double Wide Symphony. They will close out Strassenbash with a performance from 8-11 p.m. Saturday.
