The Warrenton Fire Protection District rescued two horses that had fallen through the ice on a private lake off Hwy A in northwestern Warren County on Thursday around noon. Fire Chief Mike Owenby and Captain Tony Hayeslip Sr. used a chainsaw to carve a pathway back to shore and were able to guide the horses to safety. The WFPD, along with the Wright City Fire Protection District, had just conducted an ice rescue training session on Tuesday.
