Two St. Louis County residents were involved in a crash on Interstate 70 in Warren County Sunday night, June 2, when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a deer.

Susan L. Kieffer, 60, Kirkwood, was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for moderate injuries, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol preliminary report. The driver of the motorcycle, Ronald A. Kieffer, 61, also of Kirkwood, was not reported to have any injuries.

The two were riding a 2005 Honda Goldwing eastbound on I-70 around 8:10 p.m. when the crash occurred between Jonesburg and Pendleton, according to the patrol. A deer attempting to cross the interstate reportedly struck the side of the motorcycle.

Both riders were wearing safety helmets, the patrol said.
