A murder case from Audrain County was transferred last week to Warren County Circuit Court, where a teen suspect will appear July 18.
Dekhise E. Dorsey, 17, of Mexico, Mo., is one of three people suspected in the February shooting death of Ta’Juan Williams, 27, Mexico, The Mexico Ledger reported. Dorsey is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
Two other 15-year-old suspects were arrested for the homicide and face similar charges in Audrain County, the Ledger reported in February. Because they are minors, their names were not released.
According to an arrest report from the Mexico Public Safety Department, Dorsey told police that he and the two juveniles got into a fight with Williams at a child’s birthday party Feb. 1. He allegedly stated that one of the juveniles had accidentally shot Williams. The three suspects turned themselves in to police the next day.
Dorsey’s murder case was assigned to Warren County Associate Circuit Judge Michael S. Wright. A review hearing is scheduled for July 18 in Warren County Circuit Court.
