The city of Marthasville is adding a 3,200-square-foot addition to its city hall to store vehicles and public works equipment.
The maintenance shed will span the entire width of city hall at the rear of the building. Mayor David Lange said it will be an entirely enclosed space for equipment the city uses for services such as street repair, water and sewer maintenance, and snow removal.
The facility will also house a salt brine machine the city recently purchased for pretreating roads during winter weather. The machine takes up about 225 square feet on its own, Lange said.
Construction of the addition will be completed by Lamke Trenching and Excavating, which submitted the low bid of $326,317. Lange said that was about $7,000 lower than a competing bid from T.S. Banze.
